When I Google "widgets", many of our competitors show up on the first 2 pages, but not us. Can you advise what we need to do to drive the up? Are our tags / etc correct? The Response
Create a page called "Widgets". Link to that page right from the home page paragraph - the term as a link on a high traffic page to a page of a the same name scores big. If you can, get other sites - like other partners or anyone blogging - any other site to link to your site with the term "widgets" as the linked term - if those external sites all link to your site and truly send traffic via those links - it's pretty much guaranteed you'll rise in the ranks as a site that is truly the destination of someone searching for "widgets". You have to demonstrate that you are all about "widgets" (text wise) and it will work. The tags unfortunately seem to be this thing that lingers from the early days that the search engines all but ignore since so many people try to be found that way without truly demonstrating content against a desired keyword.
