The Social Media Revolution

Two thumbs up - but why?

This is a great video that has garnered over 1 million views with it's similar counterpart "Did You Know" currently almost 4 million views.

But this video is little more than animated headlines and simple graphics. What's the draw? The story. If you're into social media, it's certainly engaging. But if you're worried you don't understand or have a handle on it, it's even more so.

The beat of the heart of social media is having a great story and telling it, no — dialoguing it on a regular basis. Organizations will be flocking to the social landscapes in droves but setting up an account is easy. It's quite a different thing to amass thousands of followers and maintaining that following.

You need to establish yourself and use the social networks on a regular basis. But then, to work those channels into your communication strategy, you need to architect your story in a framework that serves these channels (Twitter, Facebook Fan Page, LinkedIn, YouTube). And it's not a story about selling, it's about sharing and spreading ideas that inspire and gets one to think - or better yet contribute.
