Using Claude.ai to turn a PDF into an interactive content filtering tool in less than an hour.

I turned this PDF into an interactive content filtering tool in less than an hour with Claude.ai

Claude.ai is a competitor to ChatGPT and it differentiates itself by accepting large data sets — like PDFs.

This document is 41 pages of Supreme Court cases organized into four categories. I tested Claude to see how it summarized the doc — looks good, now lets see if it can parse out structure — please give me a table of category, year, case and decision.

Oh I like this. Let’s add the vote and let’s see 2 keywords for each case.

Looking at this as a nice data table, I decided to see what Claude would do if I asked it to turn this into a Javascript program where a visitor could filter the cases by category, key words, and then cases within the decades and, after making an error which it promptly corrected, the tool was effectively functioning in less than 10 minutes — which is insane!

I spent another 30 minutes styling the output, then I copied and pasted the code into the website and in less than an hour I provided an engaging way for visitors to sort through the information in the PDF before downloading it. Something I would never have dreamed of doing for a PDF document, before these tools came available.
